YOUNG ASIAN CULTURE SHARING FORUM 2018
Building Cultural Bridges Across Asia
You are cordially invited to attend the Young Asian Culture Sharing Forum 2018: Building Cultural Bridges Across Asia, sponsored by the HansaeYes24 Foundation with support from The Asia Foundation and Ewha Womans University.
The Young Asian Culture Sharing Forum will take place on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Ewha Womans University’s LG Convention Hall in Seoul, Korea.
The Forum is organized in the belief that mutual understanding of the unique cultures of Asia will enrich the human spirit and encourage economic, social, political, and security development and cooperation among Asian countries. The Forum will highlight the creative contributions of next-generation leaders who are working in new, thoughtful, inspired ways to share their arts and cultures across Asia. The Forum will cover the whole spectrum of culture, but will emphasize literature, music, visual art, and performance art.
The main theme of the Forum is: What are the themes and types of art and literature pursued or favored by the young generation in your country? As a sub-theme, one of the following two options is given:
(i) Can you classify them as Asian art and literature? How are they related or contrasted to the art and culture in other regions of the world?
(ii) How are they related to or different from those of the past generations’ art and culture in your country?
These themes and types of art and literature will be presented in the third session of the Forum, following the opening ceremony and a keynote speech delivered by a renowned scholar in the first and second sessions, respectively. Each presenter from different countries in Asia will express their ideas and thoughts on the thematic topics for twenty minutes, followed by an open discussion with other presenters and the audience in small discussion groups moderated by an expert or scholar in each group. The last session will be a summary and concluding session to report and share all the findings of each discussion group.
A one-time scholarship will be provided to all Forum presenters, and special prizes will be awarded to outstanding presenters at the third and fourth sessions, who are recommended through anonymous voting by the audience.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION:
Any interested persons in the audience are welcome to attend and participate in discussing the presented views and opinions.
